EXPAND: CAMP AMICO AND FRIDAY NIGHT FUN
PLAY is proud to fundraise for two outstanding EXPAND offerings falling outside of the annual City's budget — Friday Night Fun and Camp Amico.
Serving over 400 people each year, EXPAND enhances the quality of life for people with disabilities and their families in our community. Through EXPAND, people with physical differences, mild traumatic brain injuries, or neurological conditions have access to specialized programs, Special Olympics training, cultural arts/leisure activities and other inclusive programming. The program receives operational funding from the Parks and Recreation budget for inclusive programs, however there are some specialized programs that rely on outside funding. You can help!
We are making Friday night fun!
Offered twice each month, teens with and without disabilities come together for 2 ½ hours to swim, play games, engage in science experiments, go on outings and have fun! Friday Night Fun provides a safe, supportive night of fun and comradery for participants while their loved ones enjoy an evening out and assurance that their teen doesn’t miss them at all! Funding helps support costs associated with this specialized program.
Camp Amico is about possibility.
Serving 200 + young people, the 6-week summer camp experience for 8-16 year olds with developmental disabilities includes water sports, camping and the thrill of a summer outdoors, regardless of ability. We are thrilled to report that gifts for Camp Amico this year will leverage challenge funding provided by the Scholl Foundation matching $1 for $1 up to $20,000!
